Submission on the review of the Walking Access Act 2008

Recreation Aotearoa has submitted on the review of the Walking Access Act 2008.

We have highlighted that, according to the Sport NZ Active NZ Survey of 2017 (widely regarded as the authoritative data set), walking is by far the most popular form of physical activity for New Zealanders. We also note that many of the other popular forms of physical activity in New Zealand are heavily reliant on free public access to walkways, tracks and trails.
