Swimming New Zealand and AUSTSWIM announce partnership

The Australasian Council for the Teachers of Swimming and Water Safety (AUSTSWIM) and Swimming New Zealand (SNZ) are pleased to announce that, effective from 1 August 2019, SNZ has been granted the licence to deliver AUSTSWIM courses in NZ. It marks an exciting stage in swimming and water safety education and accreditation in New Zealand as it will provide New Zealand with a single training qualification framework.

For existing SNZ Teachers it will provide access to an internationally recognised training pathway. While for existing AUSTSWIM Teachers it will increase access to courses across the country.

Carl Partridge, AUSTSWIM CEO said "This is an important step forward for the education and training of existing and future Teachers of Swimming and Water Safety in New Zealand and will open up opportunities across the country for the swimming and water safety community"

Over the coming months there will be a variety of changes to the way swimming and water safety training and accreditation is delivered in New Zealand. AUSTSWIM and SNZ are committed to ensuring that these changes have minimal impact on both current and future teachers and course candidates.

Swimming New Zealand CEO, Steve Johns said "Both Carl and I would like to thank everyone involved, including both boards and the wider New Zealand Swimming and Water Safety community, for their passionate and dedicated work in making this happen".

Steve added "All parties are working together to make the transition as smooth as possible for all past, current and future teachers and will continue to make the experience a positive one and look forward to sharing the full details of our partnership in the near future."
