Recreation Aotearoa member, Diana Saxton, has been working in Solomon Islands since late August 2022 on a six-month, Volunteer Services Abroad assignment with the National Sports Council (NSC).

‘’A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step’’

“After getting to know each other from chats under the mango tree, in the neighbourhood I am living, local resident Andrea suggested to me that she would like to start up a neighbourhood walk and talk group for women and girls.

The aim is to have fun, increase physical activity for health and wellbeing and to establish social connection between women and girls in the neighbourhood.

On Tuesday 11 October 2022 we completed our first 2.6km loop.
