The Todd Energy Aquatic Centre in New Plymouth is a thriving and much valued community facility. This permanent, full-time, role is key in assisting with the provision of staff supervision and customer service to all pool users, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment that drives repeat visitation.

As an Assistant Duty Lifeguard focused on developing your career, you will demonstrate leadership skills whilst assisting the Duty Lifeguard in mentoring other lifeguards. You will deliver a range of day-to-day operational activities along with poolside supervision and carry out water chemical tests. The successful applicant will have the ability to communicate with all age groups across the community and adopt a positive, flexible approach to their work.

To be successful in this role you need to be an experienced lifeguard with a Comprehensive First Aid Certificate and Pool Lifeguard Practicing Certificate. A Swimming Pool Water Treatment qualification is desirable, however not essential as full training can be provided. As part of the recruitment process you will be required to undergo a swim test.

The pool is open 5.30am to 8.15pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 7pm on weekends and public holidays (closed Christmas Day), therefore you must be available to work on a seven-day roster.
