The role

We’re seeking a dynamic and creative leader to shape the visitor experience at Cornwall Park, ensuring engaging and high-quality connections for the public. As part of the leadership team, you’ll oversee place management, visitor services, and public programmes. Your work will contribute to the Park’s long-term vision while delivering meaningful experiences for the community.

  • Manage Huia Lodge Discovery Hub to enhance public engagement and raise the Park’s profile
  • Oversee and deliver strategic planning initiatives
  • Develop and deliver a diverse programme of activations, events, displays, education and outreach
  • Lead and support a small team, fostering a positive and high-performance culture
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Coordinate public communications and contribute to social media engagement
  • Monitor and evaluate visitor experiences to inform future developments
  • Ensure health and safety standards are met.

Skills and experience

You’ll need:

  • A tertiary qualification in events, visitor experience, tourism, or a related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in events, placemaking, education tourism, or visitor engagement
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach and develop a team
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Creative vision and the ability to bring stakeholders along with you to deliver engaging experiences
  • Strong organisational skills, time management, and attention to detail
  • A balance of strategic thinking and hands-on delivery
  • A passion for working with diverse communities and an interest in natural environments
  • Some knowledge of te Ao Māori would be an advantage.
