About us

Recreation Aotearoa Te Whai Oranga - We are the voice for recreation in Aotearoa. We represent all parts of New Zealand’s diverse recreation industry. We connect, support, and empower our members to deliver quality recreation experiences that enable people, places, and the natural environment to flourish.

Our aspiration is an Aotearoa where recreation has created a mutually flourishing connection between atua, taiao, whenua, and tangata. Where tangata whenua and tangata Tiriti approaches are woven together for the betterment of all. Where recreation reconnects, restores, and regenerates the well-being of people, place, and the natural environment. Where all New Zealanders can re-create in ways that work for them – supported and enabled by a connected, knowledgeable, and flourishing recreation industry.

About the role

As the Kairuruku Kaupapa | Programmes Coordinator, you will work closely with both our Programmes and Marketing and Communications teams.

You will provide support to the organisation with administration of our quality assurance and accreditation programmes, professional development opportunities, and website updates. We are a member-based organisation, and you will need to provide support and advice to our members.

This position is primarily based in our Wellington office in the CBD.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Support the delivery of our quality assurance and accreditation programmes through systems, logistics, and website administration.
  • Administrative support to the Programmes Team that includes data collection, monitoring and reporting, hui logistics, and other tasks as required.
  • Administrative support for committees and advisory groups, including meeting and travel coordination, agenda preparation, and minute-taking.
  • Administrative support to the Marketing and Communications Manager to update the website and other tasks as required.
  • Administrative support to the Event Manager of online and in-person events, including data collection, general event administration, and registration desk.
  • Manage signage orders, the stock sheet and the distribution of signage as ordered.
  • Administration of the PoolTest system, including customer engagement, system demonstration and set-up.
  • Member and stakeholder enquiries and provide advice and support as required.

What we're looking for

  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to build positive relationships with existing and potential members.
  • The ability to multitask and to prioritise effectively, with an eye for detail.
  • Knowledge and experience in systems to improve efficiency and connection.
  • Experience in using the Microsoft suite and other IT systems and platforms.
  • Experience using content management systems and/or Canva design tools would be advantageous, but not essential.

This is a great role in an organisation that offers genuine flexibility, work-life balance, and a positive workplace culture.

You will be based in our central Wellington office with flexible working arrangements. Monday and Thursday are anchor days when all Wellington-based staff are in the office. The remainder of the week can be a mixture of working from home or in the office. You will also receive an additional two hours per week of paid leave to use to do something that contributes to your wellbeing.
