Peel Forest Outdoor Centre (PFOC) is dedicated to providing adventurous outdoor activities that empower, educate, and inspire people, especially young people, in a challenging and safe environment. We are seeking a visionary and dynamic General Manager to lead our team and ensure the continued success and growth of the Centre.

Position overview

The General Manager is a senior leadership position responsible for the operational oversight and strategic direction of PFOC. Reporting to the Board of Trustees, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the Centre remains financially viable, delivers outstanding outdoor experiences, and continues to be a respected community asset.

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Leadership: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Centre, ensuring smooth functioning across all programmes and activities. 
• Team Leadership: Inspire and manage a diverse team of staff, contractors, and volunteers, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. 
• Financial Management: Oversee budgets, accounts, and payroll, ensuring financial stability and compliance. 
• Business Development: Drive the Centre's growth by executing funding and sponsorship strategies, exploring new business opportunities, and building relationships with key stakeholders. 
• Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Board of Trustees on strategic and business planning to enhance the Centre’s offerings and community impact. 
• Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including international partners, government agencies, funders, and sponsors. 
• Health and Safety: Lead the team in maintaining a safe environment, ensuring all health and safety protocols are followed.

What we are looking for

• Proven experience in a senior management role, ideally in the not-for-profit sector. 
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and influence others. 
• Excellent financial acumen, with experience in budget management and financial reporting. 
• A strategic thinker with a proven track record in business development and relationship management.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle multiple competing demands.
• Passionate about outdoor education and committed to the mission of PFOC.
