Chief Executive

The New Zealand Outdoor Instructors Association (NZOIA) promotes excellence in outdoor instruction and guiding through the provision of a qualifications pathway for a range of outdoors disciplines. NZOIA is an incorporated society governed by a board, which is elected by a diverse nationwide membership.
The Chief Executive we are seeking will be a strong, inclusive leader who brings a clear, strategic perspective, an innovative approach to organisational growth, and well-honed relationship management skills.
You will lead NZOIA through a period of strategic change and organisational transformation for an initial fixed term of one year, with the possibility of extension (flexibility within 06-0.8 FTE is the starting preference). You’ll continue to develop the strong profile of NZOIA by building effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders and funders and continue to build a culture of trust and inclusiveness for staff and the members of NZOIA.
At a practical level, you will instigate, implement and monitor the strategic and annual business plans, assume responsibility and accountability for the successful completion of the strategic transformation, and oversee the optimal performance of a small team, with the overall aim being to establish a sustainable and well positioned organisation into the future.
Person Profile
- Experience securing sustainable funding and revenue from a range of sources.
- Track record of strong strategic partnerships and stakeholder management.
- Connections and influence. (with key partnerships and potential partners)
- Commercial acumen.
- Committed to the NZOIA strategic plan and its Kaupapa.
- Able to deliver to strategy – prior experience and proven results.
- Experience leading a team, ideally remotely.
- Strong communicator, all forms.
- Proven leadership skills to get the best out of team.
- Innovative/creative thinking.
- Experience reporting to a board.
