Recreation Aotearoa submissions on Council Long Term Plans

Many Members are aware that Councils release their Long Term Plans (10-year budget) for Public Consultation in 2024.

Recreation Aotearoa has made, and continues to make, written submissions to dozens of Council Long Term Plans (LTPs), with comprehensive submissions made to the largest Councils.

Last week, our Advocacy Manager, Sam Newton gave his verbal submission to the Christchurch City Council. This week, both Sam and our Chief Executive, Sarah Murray, are giving verbal submissions to the Porirua, Hutt City and Hamilton City Councils.

The work continues, with many Councils having taken up the opportunity provided to them by the Water Services Acts Repeal Bill, to extend the deadline or defer for a year.

Sam wishes to extend his gratitude to all Members who’ve perspective and advice to our LTP work, specific to their rohe. We would also like to thank our colleagues within Sport NZ and various Regional Sports Trusts for sharing ideas.
