2026 Outdoors Awards open

Outdoors Awards 2026 nominations now open

Nominations are now open for the Outdoors Awards 2026, celebrating the people, projects, and organisations strengthening outdoor recreation across New Zealand.

Delivered by Recreation Aotearoa, the Outdoors Awards recognise leadership, innovation, and excellence in the outdoors sector. The awards highlight the individuals and teams creating safe, inclusive, and inspiring outdoor experiences in communities across the country.

The awards recognise a range of contributions across the sector, including leadership, community impact, environmental stewardship, and innovative programmes that help more people connect with the outdoors.

Winners will be announced at the National Outdoors Hui, taking place in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington on Thursday 11 June. The hui brings together outdoor leaders from across the motu to share knowledge, strengthen connections, and discuss the future of outdoor recreation.

Nominating is a simple way to recognise the people and initiatives making a real difference. From passionate volunteers to innovative programmes and sector leaders, the Outdoors Awards shine a light on the mahi happening across New Zealand.

Nominations close on 24 April 2026.
