Waipā District is home to over 320 hectares of public recreation land available for both locals and visitors to enjoy. To look after these areas and the associated amenities and services, Waipā District Council is proud to have a dedicated and highly passionate Reserves Planning Team.

This is your chance to be part of it! Due to parental leave, we have a fixed term opportunity (until August 2025) in the role of Senior Reserves Planner.

About The Role

The Senior Reserves Planner works in close support of our Team Leader on projects relating to open spaces and the associated amenities and services provided to the community. In the role, you would assist in leading and developing the team's technical capabilities in strategic planning. This will involve development of robust project plans and business cases, as well as reviewing and/or developing policies and bylaws required to manage Council reserves and amenities in line with the Local Government Act, Reserves Act, Land Act and Resource Management Act. Core to the role, you would also play a critical function in engaging our internal and external stakeholders with our vision and plans for the district.

About You

Our Reserve Planners form a close-knit and supportive team to work alongside within the larger council. For the right candidate, this is an opportunity not to be missed.

The right fit for our team will have:

  • A strong background in a similar role, with experience managing consent application projects.
  • A knack for building engagement and rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
  • University Degree (Bachelor level) in a relevant field.
  • Sound understanding of Reserves Act, Pouhere Taonga Act, Resource Management Act and Local Government Act legislation.
