As Manager, Active Recreation, you’ll: 

• Contribute to strategic leadership and thought direction for active recreation across Aotearoa. 

• Develop and implement Sport NZ’s annual Active Recreation business plan, with a strong focus on equitable outcomes for rangatahi and culturally distinctive pathways. 

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including national recreation organisations, regional sports trusts and local councils; as well as other government agencies. 

• Lead and inspire Sport NZ’s Active Recreation team, ensuring alignment with Sport NZ’s values and strategic priorities. 

• Champion youth development principles. 

What We’re Looking For: 

• Proven experience in strategic leadership and managing teams to deliver quality outcomes. 

• Deep understanding of active recreation and physical activity, and its value to young people and their communities. 

• Experience working with young people and communities of disadvantage. 

• Strong relationship-building skills and emotional intelligence. 

• Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and commitment to advancing cultural competency. 

• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
