The unseasonable weather so far this summer has not stopped swimming pools around the country from putting safety first. ‘Focussing Towards 2020'

We need your input! 2020 is only eight years away! This event will focus on those issues that will have impact on park management and operations over the next 8 years and beyond. What do you want to learn more about, what issues our parks will be facing, what innovations and practices will be utilizing, what will the political framework look like? Do you know of a presenter/topic that would be excellent for Green Pavlova 2012. Would you like to present yourself? What would you like to hear about? Get Ready to be Inspired - JAWS 2012

13-15 August 2012, Viaduct Events Centre, Auckland
Mark Inglis as been confirmed as the closing speaker. Mark is the only double amputee to have summited Mount Everest. He is a man of many talents: Mountaineer, Paralympic Gold Medalist, Motivator and Author, Winemaker and Wine Ambassador for The Hermitage Mt Cook, ONZM and Academic with an honours degree in biochemistry. An amazing guy who returned to climb Mt Cook - which was responsible for the frostbite which caused him to lose his legs below the knee, 20 years earlier. Don't miss this inspiring speaker! NZ Parks Categories & Levels of Service 

NZRA is excited to present the first New Zealand, industry developed and agreed, set of parks categories. It is recommended that these categories be used by territorial local authorities for the planning and management of parks. Become a subscription member and receive a hard and/or soft copy document. Subscriptions are a one off contribution of $500 plus gst towards the development of the resource. Please read more and order here.

NZRA National Conference

The National Conference was a great success with over 225 delegates attending and a well-received selection of presentations, workshops, forums and field trips. The 2011 Industry Awards were also presented. Visit the Awards page for details of the winners in the upcoming weeks.

Aquatics Active Training Workshops

Skills Active and New Zealand Recreation Association are excited to host a series of Aquatics Active Training workshops. The facilitator for both workshops is Helen McPhun, Managing Director, Learning and Development Specialist. The workshop is around how to train adults, how they learn and involves planning and delivering a training session. The first two workshops will be held in Rotorua and Auckland.
