National Lifeguard Competition

On Tuesday 25 June lifeguard teams from the Wellington Region competed at the Coastlands Aquatic Centre to decide on who would represent the region at the National Lifeguard Competition in Queenstown on 2 September.

The team from the Coastlands Aquatic Centre won and will be heading to the National Competition.

The National Lifeguard Competition is chance for Lifeguard teams to pit their knowledge and skills against others in the industry with the aim of being crowned the National Lifeguard Champs.

The competition is held over 4 hours and teams are tested in the following areas: Swimming fitness, Rescue skills, Communication skills, First aid knowledge, Pool operations knowledge, Team work and Leadership.
