In the next couple of weeks the first Good Practice Guides (“GPG’s”) will be available on the Support Adventure website.

These are designed to provide guidance for outdoor activities not addressed by the Adventure Activity regulations or their associated Adventure Safety Guidelines (ASG’s). The GPG’s are designed to be useful to volunteer led groups, youth organisations and schools.

The first guidelines to be published include generic guidelines for all outdoor activities, overnight camping, flatwater paddling and inland waterway swimming. These documents are designed to update the 2009 Sport NZ funded ‘red book’ ‘Outdoor Activities, Guidelines for Leaders’. We anticipate we will adding some 4-8 guidelines per year.

Thank you to all those who took part in the consultation process. Please note that these are evolving documents and we hope to update and edit them as we get feedback from users. This work has been supported by Education Outdoors NZ, Tourism Industry Association, the Tourism Industry Trust of NZ, Scouts, Girls Brigade, Christian Camping and the Mountain Safety Council.
