Recently, NZRA was invited to attend a briefing with the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Hon Phil Twyford, proposed national urban development authority.

The government has ambitious objectives with regard to the construction of new housing and it poses many challenges. NZRA has interests and expertise in how spaces and places for Community Recreation can be built into large-scale housing construction projects. We also draw upon cutting-edge thinking and experiences from our international partners such as World Urban Parks. It is clear that the utilisation and protection of existing Reserves and the establishment of new Reserves will be a focus of debate.

Rest assured that NZRA will always advocate for quality spaces and places - as articulated as a long-term outcome in the NZRA Strategic Plan.
