60th Aquatics Conference Delegate Reflections - Rhiann Collins

 Waves 2022 is the 60th National Aquatics Conference. To celebrate this anniversary, we've asked some of our past delegates what they’ve loved best about the past sixty years!

Rhiann Collins – Aquatics Programme Manager Recreation Aotearoa

Q. When and where did you start in Aquatics?

A. I started back in2006 as a Swim Teacher based on the sunny Mediterranean isle of Cyprus.

Q. When did you attend your first aquatics conference?

A. I attend my first Waves conference in 2018 at Rotorua.

Q. Most influential conference speaker/presentation?

A. The CLM presentation a non-fataldrowning. The raw emotion of the whole incident that wasstill evident in thepresenters was a reminder of how much responsibility is placed on the shouldersof our lifeguards, a lot of who are just starting out on their adult journey.

Q. Most memorable aquatics conference moment?

A. The National Pool Lifeguard Competitions are always greatfun although the dance off at theAwards dinner at the Skyline in Rotorua is hard to beat.
