Lifeguard Championships & JAWS 2017

This week we’ve been able to share the programme on the JAWS website, and I’m really excited about the inspiring speakers and workshops that we have lined up. You can take a look here.

JAWS is taking place on 9-11 August 2017 at the Rydges Latimer Hotel, Christchurch and will be full of opportunities to network, exchange ideas and learn about what's happening for aquatic recreation professionals in New Zealand.

The Wellington Regional Lifeguard Championships were held at the Coastlands Aquatic Centre last week; congratulations to all the participants! The results were as follows:

  • 1st - Coastlands Aquatic Centre Team and Team Tawa
  • 2nd - Freyberg Team
  • 3rd - Lido Team (Palmerston North)

I’m so excited about the National Lifeguard Championships at JAWS on 8 August, and the good news is that there is still time to register a team. Contact me on tracey@nzrecreation.org.nz if you want your team to represent at the National Championships.

One of the great things about JAWS is the field trips and this year we are offering you the opportunity to witness the future of aquatics in New Zealand. One of our field trips is the Christchurch Regional Facility tour, brought to you by Warren and Mahoney Architects, Daryl Maguire and Alex Head.

Delegates will be able to visit, amongst others, the Metro Sports Facility construction site and hear first-hand about what goes into designing the largest aquatic and indoor recreation and leisure venue of its kind in New Zealand.

Make sure you register for JAWS 2017.

See you in August!
