Only 3 weeks left to register for Recreation Conference 2017!
The NZRA Recreation Conference is the premier event on the professional development and networking calendar for recreation professionals. The 2017 event will be held from 8–9 November at the TSB Showplace in New Plymouth, with optional field trips on Friday 10 November.
NZRA believes recreation creates great New Zealanders. Our vision is that New Zealanders are active, healthy, and connected through recreation. The NZRA Recreation Conference helps to realise this vision by looking to the horizon to understand future New Zealanders and their future recreation needs and wants. The Recreation Conference will provoke discussion on the global/local issues that will impact our future participants and our society.
Following feedback from last years event, we have built in more opportunities to network and recreate with your fellow delegates. Take a look below to find out more:
Early Registration and Welcome Walk
We know that lots of delegates will be arriving the day before the conference, so we want to take the opportunity to recreate together! On Tuesday 7 November at TSB Showplace, you’ll have an chance to register for the event early and then we will lead a group out for a walking tour in New Plymouth. This is the time to meet some of your fellow delegates and get some networking in!
Morning Recreation
There is no better way to start the day than with some outdoor recreation! At 7am on Wednesday we will be leading a 5km run along the beautiful New Plymouth waterfront. There will be two groups, one for the competitive runners and one for the people that want to chat and network as they run. At 7am on Thursday you can join in with Plank in the Park: a 30 minute HIIT style bootcamp in a local park.

On the evening of Wednesday 8 November we will be heading to the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery at the Len Lye Centre. We will have a fantastic evening with drinks and canapes and hear from the Gallery Director, Simon Rees. Another opportunity to network with your fellow delegates, but also to view the stunning venue of the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery and look at recreation in a completely different way!

Awards Dinner
The NZRA Awards Dinner takes place on the evening of Thursday 9 November. We’ll be at the TSB Showplace for this incredible night of dinner, dancing and awarding the best in the New Zealand recreation industry.
