He angitūtanga: The opportunity

This is an opportunity for a dynamic programme management professional to take ownership of the vision and accountabilities of the Parks, Sport & Recreation team, leading the department's strategic initiatives and coordinating our response to Auckland Council's organisational strategy.

We provide quality advice to the Council, including the governing body and Local Boards, for the provision and delivery of parks sport and Recreation services, and you'll play a bridging role, working on delivery-based operational strategies, therefore, strengthening the delivery of our team, assisting us to evolve Auckland into a world leading provider of parks, sport and recreation services.

You'll take the lead in advising on many of our team's major programmes and strategy, including our Long-term Plan, service development and Auckland Paths programmes to name a few.

You'll be leading departmental strategy, working collaboratively across council group, Local Boards, Active Recreation, Parks Services and Te Waka Tai-ranga-whenua to ensure that we are aligned to deliver on our strategic initiatives and operational milestones.

We're seeking a passionate individual with a strong background in programme management and the ability to apply systems thinking. Your leadership skills, including leading strategic policy and planning initiatives, and your ability to manage complex relationships, encompassing experience working in partnership with a range of internal and external stakeholders, will enable you to lead and drive your team's delivery.

Teamwork and collaboration will absolutely be second nature to you, and you thrive in your engagement from a community-based level right through to senior leadership.
