Senior Operator - Open Space - Hamilton City Council

The Senior Operator role is a mixture of hands on and off the tools to provide support to the wider sports ground and facilities management team, so experience in supervising and organising teams to meet expected levels of service would be an advantage.

The tasks and duties of this position will involve not only operating a wide range of commercial mowing, sports turf equipment including tractors but will be overseeing the teams maintaining the Parks and Reserves. The role will involve regular auditing of work completed and ensuring that the teams meet their work schedules daily while complying with all health and safety requirements. This is a role where you will need to be a hard-working team player who isn't afraid to muck in and get their hands dirty.

Skills and Experience:

  • Desirable experience operating varied horticulture equipment
  • Turf/parks maintenance knowledge
  • Experience with Supervising and organising teams would be advantageous
  • Collaborative working style and builds strong relationships
  • Experience in delivering a Safety-first culture
  • Valid Class 2 licence would be favourable, we can help you achieve this

About the Company:

This role sits within our Parks and Recreation unit at Hamilton City Council. We work to maintain and enhance Hamilton's sports grounds, parks and reserves network through the city.

Hamilton has more than 200 parks and reserves ranging from large sports grounds which are home to designated codes including cricket at Galloway Park, or football at Gower Park, to small parks catering for more social sporting events; Hamilton has a vast array of sporting parks to choose from and small neighbourhood reserves like Union Park.
