The Parks, Sport and Recreation (PSR) business unit is a high performing, multifunctional unit responsible for a wide range of business outputs. We provide indoor and outdoor sport, recreation and play opportunities, protect and enhance our natural environment and work in partnership with our sporting, recreation and environmental communities to contribute to Wellington's reputation as an active, healthy and attractive place to live, work, play and visit.

About the role

The Project Specialist - Facilities is part of our Assets and Projects team; we're responsible for the buildings and infrastructure across our parks, open spaces and recreational facilities.

Its our role to ensure we look after what we have and develop what we need for the future.

The team

Based in our offices on The Terrace in Wellington's CBD, we're a diverse and talented group who are passionate about the awesome stuff that we do for our city and we are looking for people who will share the same enthusiasm to contribute to our city's facilities.

About you

As a Project Specialist you'll get stuck in to delivering a range of facility upgrade and renewal projects across the open space and recreational facilities property portfolio.

The key to your success in this role will be your flexibility, your pragmatic approach to getting stuff done and the ability to effectively communicate to a wide range of stakeholders, both inside and outside the organisation.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Project Management of capital renewal and upgrade projects with a property/building focus
  • Project Reporting and budget management
  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Contract and risk management

You will be an innovative, solutions focused, self-starter with at least three years experience in project delivery in a construction related environment

Ideally you'll have a qualification in Project Management (eg Prince 2, PMP, Agile etc).
