The Todd Energy Aquatic Centre in New Plymouth is a thriving and much valued community facility. We have a full-time permanent vacancy. This role is key in the provision of staff supervision and customer service to all pool users, in a safe and enjoyable environment that drives repeat visitation.
You will demonstrate leadership skills and mentor other lifeguards. You will deliver a range of day-to-day operational activities along with poolside supervision and carrying out water chemical tests. The successful applicant will have the ability to communicate with all age groups across the community and adopt a positive, flexible approach to their work.
The pool is open 5.30am - 8.15pm Monday - Friday and 7am - 6.45pm weekends and public holidays (closed Christmas Day), therefore you must be available to work on a 7 day roster.
To be successful in this role you need to be an experienced lifeguard. Having a First Aid Certificate, Pool Lifeguard Practicing Certificate and/or Water Treatment Certificate is desirable, however not essential as full training can be provided. As part of the recruitment process you will be required to undergo a swim test. This role is considered a children's worker role and will be subject to safety checking as part of the Vulnerable Children Act 2014.
