Recreation Conference 2020

This year we are bringing Recreation Conference to you as an online event 24 - 25 November.

The ever-evolving circumstances surrounding COVID-19 have been uncertain and challenging; but they have also generated innovative business models and ways of working as we respond to the needs of our communities.

This year Recreation Conference will explore lockdown learning, research and changing patterns; sharing best practice from across Aotearoa.

Tirohanga - Our Vision

Ma te whakakitenga ka ora ai te iwi
With foresight the people will prosper

This whakataukī is based on words from Kīngi Tāwhiao Pōtatau Te Wherowhero's original whakatauākī to rally his people and encourage unity and forward thinking.

Today, in a new COVID-19 future, we are also on a new journey. At Recreation Conference, let us use latest research and insights to imagine the future we want, so we can achieve the future our communities deserve.

Our pou/streams

1. Manaaki whenua

2. Manaaki tāngata

These themes are based on themes of the new Recreation Aotearoa integrated strategy developed by Te Kāhui Kura Māori and the Recreation Aotearoa Board.

We are now taking submissions from potential speakers for Recreation Conference 2020, so if you have a story to share, submit your abstract now.
