INSIGHTS: Environmental Sustainability
The effects of climate change require recreation providers to consider the impact of facilities, parks, waterways and sports fields.
Facility designers and owners are shifting their infrastructure focus to a longer term consideration of the environment. This shift enables creativity and some unusual solutions that emphasise the positive - the existing site, community and location; and minimise the negative - CO2 emissions and unnecessary waste.
There is also the potential to reduce the carbon footprint, minimise waste, lower operational costs and meet intergenerational community needs.
