A good park provides things that communities need and desire for daily life. 'Connections' are key to creating great parks, the kind that people want to use for activity, play, relaxation and enjoyment.

The Green Flag Award® is an international quality benchmark for publicly accessible parks and green spaces. There are currently 29 Green Flag Award® cemeteries, parks and reserves throughout New Zealand.

Providing access for communities to quality green spaces, using good practice models in the development and management of parks, and recognising the hard work of managers, staff and volunteers are just some of the aspects that the judges for these awards look at.
