Projects

NZRA works jointly with other organisations on projects to benefit the recreation sector. Current projects include:

National Learn to Swim and Pool Facilities Research Project

New Zealand Recreation Association and Water Safety New Zealand are working together to better manage community swimming opportunities in New Zealand. They have asked AECOM to undertake a database creation project that involves gathering information on swimming pool facilities that are provided throughout the country by local authorities and schools.

Water Safety New Zealand is also interested in finding out what regions in New Zealand are providing learn to swim programmes and what pool facilities are being provided. The information from this project will help the aquatics industry to better see the ‘big picture' of what's happening around the country and to then identify and prioritise those regions that may need support in providing swimming facilities and/or learn to swim programmes.
