Position Paper – Outdoor Recreation Review

1. What does NZRA consider to be the value of outdoor recreation to New Zealanders?
In answering this think about the values in terms of their contribution to health, education, tourism, trade, national identity, social wellbeing and the environment.
2. What are the issues and opportunities that NZRA consider need to be addressed in order to maximise the value of outdoor recreation to New Zealanders?
In answering this think about changing demographics and health status; participation rates and demand for outdoor recreation activities; managing multiple use of recreation resources; environmental sustainability; commercial and non-commercial outdoor recreation activities; increasing urbanisation; access to places to recreate in the outdoors; cultural needs; and perceptions of risk and safety.
3. What information, research, evidence or data do you have that would help us to write an informed discussion document?
In answering this you could think about membership data, survey results, focus group findings or questionnaires you may have used to gather information about issues, trends and/or opportunities.
4. What are your key recommendations to maximise the value of outdoor recreation to New Zealanders?
