Just Add Water SeminarThe Just Add Water Seminar (JAWS) is New Zealand's annual Aquatics Conference and one of the events most looked forward to on the NZRA professional development calendar. JAWS 2012Get ready to be inspired at JAWS 2012 at the new Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland! Confirmed dates are Monday 13 August to Wednesday 15 August. Put these dates in your diary NOW! JAWS will start with a Pools Tour on Monday 13 August (optional) which will finish with the National Lifeguard Championships. The Viaduct Events Centre is a fantastic venue and really sets the scene for a prime learning, information sharing and networking opportunity such as JAWS. Check out the Events Centre here. Two outstanding keynote speakers have been confirmed - Paul Brown (Face 2 Face) and Fraser Carson (FRESCO Advertising). More information about these two keynote speakers can be downloaded here. More information about JAWS will be available early 2012 and registrations will be open from April. If you would like to be considered as a speaker or have an idea of what you'd like to see as part of the programme, please contact the Aquatics project manager alison@nzrecreation.org.nz JAWS 2011The 2011 JAWS was held at Te Papa in Wellington on 18-19 August . This was the 50th anniversary of JAWS and there were over 200 delegates from all areas of the Aquatics Industry - including facility owners, operators, managers and coordinators, industry consultants and local government personnel. Presentations from the 2011 JAWS are available online to members by logging in using the Member Login at the top right of the website. Just Add Water Seminar 2010In 2010 JAWS was held at the Sebel Hotel and the Baywave Aquatic Centre, attracting 160 delegates. Lifeguard of the Year was presented to Wayne Riley, Whangarei Aquatics Centre at the Just Add Water Seminar in Wellington on 19 August. Wayne is a very deserving and humble recipient of this prestigious award. 
Five teams battled it out at the National Lifeguard Championships at Freyberg Pool in Wellington on 17 August. After a closely fought battle, Auckland was the victorious team with Stadium 2000 a very close second and Waimakariri third. This event is a unique opportunity to showcase lifeguard skills at a national level and raise the profile of our industry. It was great to see the many supporters there cheering on their teams.
