The National Conference is the premier event on the NZRA professional development calendar.
The Conference features presentations on strategic developments and trends impacting on the wider recreation industry, including keynote speakers of international standing.
The programme also includes concurrent sessions covering natural resource management, recreation facility and service provision and policy making.
Participants are traditionally drawn from senior managers, elected officials, academics and policy makers.
The National Conference incorporates showcasing and announcing the NZRA Award winners.
2010 National Conference connect… the dots
The 2010 NZRA conference is in Wellington 18 – 20 October. Based at Victoria University’s Rutherford House on the Pipitea Campus we will make the most of our Beehive location.
This conference has opportunities for you to CONNECT policy and practice, politics and programmes, you and your colleagues.
In keeping with our Wellington location, our programme includes national politicians and policy makers, captures the latest from researchers and thought leaders, and showcases creative ways of connecting the dots and creating synergies between partner agencies that work within our communities.
Professionals from political, environmental, social, cultural and economic spheres will highlight the often invisible connections with recreation.
CONNECT will contribute to your professional practice and link you personally with others in the sector. The conference combines a two-day business programme followed by one day of (optional) workshops and field trips.
CONNECT is future focused, equipping you as leaders in the recreation sector. Topics included in the programme are:
• The value of recreation and its contribution to genuine progress in our communities
• Future trends in service delivery in open spaces, libraries and fitness
• The role of recreation and social development.
• Tourism and its contribution to recreation
• Reinventing the wheel – the future of cycling.
